Description:

Covered bonds are debt securities issued within specific legal frameworks and backed by a separate cover pool. In Austria, they come with special legal security features that provide investors with a high level of protection and transparency.

Starting from July 8, 2022, the Pfandbriefgesetz (PfandBG) came into effect, harmonizing and replacing three existing legal frameworks - the Hypothekenbankengesetz (HypBG), the Pfandbriefgesetz (PfandbriefG), and the law on fundierte Bankschuldverschreibung (FBschVG).

This table shows covered Bonds issued by Austrian issuers broken down by type of cover pool, outstanding amounts, transactions, and currency of denomination. The published data are available in market and face value. Market value is pre-selected as the default value in the table.

Main methodological differences to the securities issuances of Austrian issuers published by the ECB (CSEC-Securities Issues Statistics) are the inclusion of non-ISIN debt securities and the usage of the national reference data base in the compilation of statistical aggregates.
