Boosting EU competitiveness – The Role of the CESEE Countries
(, Warsaw)Conference on European Economic Integration (CEEI) 2015 of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) and Conference on the Future of the European Economy (CFEE) 2015 of Narodowy Bank Polski (NBP)
How to boost competitiveness of both the EU as a whole and of the individual Member States? Can the countries of Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe (CESEE) play a role in reinvigorating EU competitiveness?
These questions will be discussed at the conference Boosting EU Competitiveness – The Role of the CESEE Countries, co-organized by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank and Narodowy Bank Polski as a joint edition of their respective annual conferences. The conference, referred to as CEEI/CFEE 2015, will be held on 15 and 16 October 2015 in Warsaw, Poland.
At the CEEI/CFEE 2015, renowned speakers will adopt a comprehensive view and discuss various dimensions of competitiveness: price and cost developments, innovation, labor market issues, the role and design of structural and industrial policies, and the effects of global supply chains.
The CEEI/CFEE 2015 will be hosted by OeNB Governor Ewald Nowotny and NBP President Marek Belka. A number of high-level CESEE central bank representatives will contribute to the conference, i.a. Ardo Hansson (Estonia), Boštjan Jazbec (Slovenia), Boris Vujčić (Croatia), and Mehmet Yörükoğlu (Turkey). Beata Javorcik (University of Oxford) and Michael Landesmann (wiiw) will deliver keynote lectures.
The organisers strongly believe that the conference will create a favourable platform for a meaningful discussion on the current economic challenges of the region.
