Eva Micheler (London School of Economics) – Integrating digital assets and cryptocurrencies into the law of property
Digital assets and cryptocurrencies are a new class of assets. Cryptocurrencies exist purely in digital form. Digital assets are connected to either rights to claim against a issuer or, alternatively, to physical objects. Property law has evolved on the basis of physical tangible objects. It has also learnt to regulate the transfer of rights incorporated in negotiable instruments. In this presentation, Eva Micheler will discuss how property law has begun to accommodate digital assets as well as cryptocurrencies.
