Security Features

Never rely on just one security feature. Always check several features to ensure that you are holding a genuine banknote!

The EUR 20 banknote is used to demonstrate the security features of small-denomination notes (EUR 5, EUR 10 and EUR 20).

4 – Glossy Stripe
On the back of the EUR 5, EUR 10 and EUR 20 banknotes an 8 mm wide glossy stripe runs down the center of the note next to the security thread. The stripe varies in color from light yellow to golden yellow when the note is tilted near a good light source. You can make out the euro symbol and the value numeral (5, 10 or 20) in the glossy stripe.
